Uh oh... so you spilled water on your laptop did you?

Yeah, you messed up. I bet you're panicking! You've got a good reason to. Nothing kills a laptop quicker (ok maybe throwing it off a building in frustration) than liquids in the electricals.

  1. First step for you, if you did not already: Turn it off and do not turn it back on again until I say so.
  2. Secondly, open it and turn it upside down so the water can drain out.
  3. Thirdly, leave it to dry for a really long time. Like days. Give it a week if you can.
  4. Finally, turn it back on, cross your fingers and hope it works.

Don't do what this guy did...

Words From A Professional Keyboard Assassin

Thats me. I'm CathyLou and you might be wondering why I feel qualified to tell you all how to fix your laptops and keyboards. (If any of my former co-workers are reading this THEY will not be wondering.) On average, I am responsible for the death of at least one keyboard every six months. I've never killed a laptop yet, thankfully.

I hope this info helps you. If it doesn't work out, sometimes you just have to move on, you know?
I know it worked for him, but wouldn't you kick yourself if you ended up shorting out your whole laptop instead? Just follow the simple steps above and we'll get through this. Don't let your impatience get the better of you. It is a life or death situation for your laptop.
